SummerSlam is just three days away (August 23)! With a lot of great matches lined up this year, here are a few of my personal favorites and predictions.
John Cena vs Seth Rollins
Undertaker vs Lesnar
Ziggler w/Lana vs Rusev w/Summer Rae
Divas Three-Way Team Match (Bellas vs PCB vs BAD)
John Cena vs Seth Rollins
This fight is trickier to predict than you might think. John Cena might be the WWE favorite but that doesn't mean he will win at SummerSlam.
Cena tends to appear very strong on television like RAW but has a history of losing on PPV events like SummerSlam and Royal Rumble. So, despite being arguably better than Rollins, Cena might not be able to pull off a victory this Sunday.
At the same time, Rollins is not a favorite to win by the fans. His reign as the Heavyweight Champion has been lackluster and filled with more running away than actual fighting. Rollins also wants a statue of himself built if he can snag Cena's championship while also keeping his own but I really don't believe he will be getting a statue anytime soon.
Who knows, maybe Sheamus will surprise everyone and cash in at a chance for the championship at the last minute.
Prediction: Seth Rollins retains his title.
Undertaker vs Lesnar
This is another hard fight to predict. Multiple sources seem to be giving Lesnar a slight edge over the Undertaker but the odds are pretty close.
The last time these two met, the entire locker room had to come out - not once but twice! - to separate them in order to stop them from just beating the shit out of each other! These two hate each other. This will definitely be an intense match to watch regardless who wins.
With that said, I would go with Lesnar over Undertaker but the match could really go either way.
Prediction: Lesnar wins but it is a close call.
Ziggler w/Lana vs Rusev w/Summer Rae
Personally, I am very excited for this match. The feud between Lana and Summer Rae has been interesting to watch play out.
Ziggler made a surprising return last Monday RAW where he completely bitch slapped Rusev. Rusev even tried to use Summer Rae as a shield which can not be good for their relationship.
Rusev and Summer Rae seem to be falling out of sync while Lana and Ziggler make for a strong pair.
It feels like a lot of people are looking to see Rusev fall too. I guess they are tired of seeing that Bulgarian flag with his face on it. After winning so many times, Rusev might be on a downward slope now.
Prediction: Ziggler and Lana pull out a sweet win.
Divas Three-Way Team Match
The Divas match for this year's SummerSlam is a fight between three teams - Team Bella, Team PCB and Team BAD - with Team Bella favorited to win.
As much as I love Sasha Banks and Team BAD, I wouldn't put any money on them to win. Team BAD has had the least amount of build up compared to the other two teams.
Team PCB is growing in popularity mainly due to the popularity and fans of Paige and Charlotte. This team has a lot of potential though and if anyone is going to defeat Team Bella then it will be this team.
Team Bella is still going strong. Nikki Bella still holds the Diva Championship title and is close to breaking the record and becoming the longest title holding diva. So, she is extremely motivated to keep winning. Team Bella does have some draw backs though.
While both Team BAD and Team PCB seem weaker due to having just recently graduated NXT members (Sasha, Becky and Charlotte), that still doesn't guarantee a win for Team Bella.
The NXT women are strong. Not only that but Team Bella's Alicia Fox hasn't been doing too much fighting lately. She has become a cheerleader in a tutu.
Team Bella has also done themselves no favors by getting on Stephanie McMahon's bad side. Stephanie decided to show Team Bella who was in charge of the Divas division when she brought Sasha, Becky and Charlotte up from NXT thus starting this Divas Teams feud-storyline.
Still, despite all of this, Team Bella is still going strong and are favored to win at SummerSlam.
Prediction: Team Bella to win though Team PCB has a chance to upset them.
